Blue Men of the Minch
Outer Hebrides
Storm kelpies who swim the strait between Lewis and the Shiant Isles, their grey faces rising from the foam. They challenge passing captains to a battle of rhyming verse — fail and they drag the vessel under. In calm weather they sleep beneath the surface; their restlessness is what makes the Minch so treacherous.
