Diarmuid and Grainne

Grainne placed a geis on the young warrior Diarmuid to flee with her on their wedding night rather than marry the ageing Fionn. For sixteen years they were hunted across Ireland and Scotland, leaving their names on hollow hills and stone beds. He died on Ben Bulben, killed by the boar Fionn refused to help him fight.
