Knockainey (Cnoc Áine), County Limerick, Munster

Áine is a sovereign goddess and fairy queen of Munster, associated with Cnoc Áine in County Limerick and the waters of Lough Gur. She presided over summer, love, fertility, crops, and cattle. On St John's Eve, communities lit torches on her hill and processed through fields and herds to invoke her blessing.
