Barns of Ayr

Scotland

A building in Ayr used as English barracks in the 1290s, according to Blind Harry's 15th-century epic poem on William Wallace. Wallace is said to have burned it down with the English garrison inside — one of the acts of revenge that marked his shift from outlawed knight to guerrilla leader.
