Kilkenny Witch Trials

The Kilkenny witch trials of 1324 centred on accusations against the wealthy Alice Kyteler and eleven associates. Kyteler escaped, but Petronilla de Meath was tortured and burned at the stake for alleged witchcraft and heresy. The case remains a dark landmark in Irish history.
