Bronze Age

Roughly 2500 to 800 BC, the period of Britain and Ireland's first metalworking, extensive trade networks and monuments such as Stonehenge's later phases. Folklore attached to Bronze Age sites is almost always retrospective, imposed by later communities who no longer knew who had built the barrows, stone circles and hillforts dotting the countryside.
